UPDATE IN THE LEAR FUSION SYSTEM
(On-line bead and fault detection on Magnet wire)

We are a twenty-two year old company whose only business is to design and build test equipment for use on the production lines in magnet wire plants, worldwide.

Five years ago this month, we completed the design of a computer controlled system for in-line detection of beads and insulation faults on the surface of magnet wire, round and flat. Up to 24 lines could be monitored with one system. For this, we had to invent a new detection device which would do both jobs and require little space. Prior experience of 8 years detecting beads on moving magnet wire gave us a head start. Deliveries of the new Fusion System could start in February of 1999.

It seemed a difficult time to introduce this new system. Our introductory date perfectly coincided with the onset of widespread decline in sales across the magnet wire industry in the USA . Add to that the resultant reductions of personnel, equipment purchases, and, of course, plant closings. DOA (Dead On Arrival) Fusion System?

It turned out to be an ideal time to introduce this system. Why? Reduced sales and profit levels brought out the survival instincts among the wire producers and accelerated the acceptance of a technology that might help them survive the crisis by increasing their share of a smaller market.

Looking for an advantage, manufacturers were able to differentiate their wire from the rest by offering a manufacturing process that would provide 100% testing of the finished product for beads and insulation faults. Manufacturers using this wire to build motors, transformers, relays, etc. saw dramatic reductions in failures due to the magnet wire and was soon requiring the Fusion System to monitor their wire.

Scrap wire that the magnet wire producer couldn't ship was also reduced due to real-time operator feedback. Both parties won, word spread, and now, Fusion Systems are helping to create new levels of magnet wire quality and dependability across the industry.

If your plant needs an (almost unfair) advantage, please call for more information and a plant demonstration.

Sincerely:

Dennis Swing, President
